SHMD 2021 Media Guidelines and Press Policy

In an effort to ensure coordinated outreach and continuity of information shared with the public, the South High Marathon Dance (SHMD) has established the following policy regarding media and press, including broadcast news stations, radio, newspapers, journals, magazines, etc.

Official Sources of Information

The Marathon Dance has established a web and social media presence to share information with the public. Official sources include the South Glens Falls Central School District website at www.sgfcsd.org, the Marathon Dance website at www.shmd.org, Facebook www.facebook.com/SHMDInc, Twitter @shmdnow and Instagram at @SHMDNOW.

Prior to the Event

For additional information regarding the event, including arranging for a visit to the school prior to the event and/or to interview student chairs, committee members, volunteers, or recipients, media sources are to contact us at [email protected]. Press inquiries specific to Six Flags Great Escape Resort should be directed to Communications Supervisor Jason Lee at [email protected].

Visiting the Event

The South High Marathon Dance will commence on the morning of Friday, April 30, 2021, and will conclude later that evening. Specific hours and program will be provided in the official schedule, which can be found on the website at www.shmd.org. The event is closed to the public and any requests for media access must be coordinated in advance. On-site coverage instructions will only be provided after your visit has been confirmed and coordinated with the appropriate media contacts. Media Policy

Please take note of the following:

• - A record of all press visits shall be maintained.
• - All persons will be required to complete and pass COVID-19 screening, including questioning and non- invasive temperature check, as well as security screening, prior to being granted access to the Park.
• - Entry instructions will only be provided after your visit has been scheduled with the media contacts.
• - Press will be required to present credentials prior to being given access to interview, video, and/or photograph at the event.
• - All press will be issued credentials to be visibly displayed during their visit to the event and will be escorted throughout the entirety of their visit to the Park.
• - Press will only be permitted in certain areas of the Park as jointly approved by management of The Great Escape, the South Glens Falls Central School - District, and the South High Marathon Dance.
• - Media may request to interview recipients, which may be accommodated as they are available. Due to public health protocols and the COVID-19 environment, recipients may not be present at the Park.
• - It may not be possible to accommodate certain video footage, live or recorded, photos, interviews, etc.
• - Media requests will be evaluated and may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
• - All student interviews are subject to approval of the Marathon Dance Advisors.
